Welcome to Haleigh Maede
Formerly Vidalia Outfitters.
Why the change? Well…. how long have you been following along? I am nothing if not prone to change.
Some part of me wanted to simplify::.. ‘Vidalia Outfitters’ was created to encapsulate handmade items merchandised together with market styles. It made a lot of sense for me when I was curating a space at the Asheville Outlets and needed more than jewelry to make the most of my 10’ x 10’ spot in the world.
Some part of me wanted something more sophisticated::.. People would ask ‘Are you from Vidalia, Georgia? Is that why your name is Vidalia?’ And I would say ‘Noooo, it could be even more redneck than that….’ and I would explain my beloved Sammy Kershaw song, Vidalia. (And look at this, going back to simplifying)… a woman named Violet and a man named Dale, had a baby and named her Vidalia… at the beginning of Vidalia Vogue / Outfitters, I wanted to represent Him and Her, and I thought Violet and Dale were the perfect caricatures. Needless to say, I am drawn to things more femme and that’s easier to fit and style - especially considering that the man in my house doesn’t wear jewelry. I found myself explaining this to a very interested, very esteemed woman I met in Hawaii, and it was frustrating because sharing my brand didn’t seem to sit with the quality of work I was doing these days… I felt disconnected from myself trying to explain it.
Lastly, I wanted a more versatile logo::.. something that could translate to single color, that could be switched around to suit different needs in my marketing…. you’ll see. Maybe that will be my next post.
Thanks for being here, xx.
